IP checks

i know u do IP checks everynow and then and i was just wondering if i could get in trouble for what i am doing. I go on my name at my house and sometimes at school. it is the same name and i cant rate any tracks or anything because the school comptuers dont have nl or sm. this is ok to do right??

It's no problem to login on your own account on a diffrent IP adress. For example logging in at school or a friend's house is no problem.

Just make sure that nobody else has an account on that computer, otherwise there can be problems. When a girl in my class, Carrie, logged onto her CS.com account on the computer I had been using to log in, we were both kicked off the site because Phyter, RiderMayBail, and Seuss thought we were cheating. (punks...)

and also make sure to know we're not like CS where well ban you for logging in with different accounts on the same ip, we are knowledagle of AOL IP schemes among other ISP's which will address the same IP to different houses so banning accounts based on the same IP with no othe evidence that the two IP's = the same person is the most idiotic reason to ban. When they start rating each other, we delete subsequent IP rates and if it's more than occassional, I investigate further. We're not ban happy, like we say, everyone is welcomed here, except for people who raise false rumors about us on other sites without evidence or have done gross things here or other staff secret reasons, but never for such idiotic things of the same IP.

yeah, CS's system has always seemed odd to me. But whatever floats their boat.

If you have dial up (like many ppl do) you most likely have a dynamic IP, which means it changes every time you log onto the internet anyway. You sometimes get the same one.

That's abit odd they kicked you off for that. I've logged into cs.com at home, and I use to log-in every now and then from work. I never got booted.
