Laptop help!

My dad has a Toshiba Satellite M-35X And it charges fine. But once you actually turn it on it stops charging. Then when you turn it back off it charges fine! We are both stumped why it is doing this. SO what could we do and if it involves getting a new battery just tell us a good suggestion for a new laptop. Please responed ASAP!

Contact Toshiba? Have you tried plugging in the power cord once it is already started under battery power?

^The problem with that is that our warrenty is up and we do not want to pay for the service. So we are looking into purchasing an HP dv6205us Laptop. Does anyone know a lot about this model? Is it any good? Help is appreciated.
