I got my first picture of lighting tonight. It only took like 30 minutes and dozens of trial pictures, but w00t.

Ah, you must have taken a picture of that storm that rolled through here today. Cool shot.

You can also do it with a very long shuter speed. Just use a tri pod, and point the camera towards the storm. If you're lucky you get a nice lightning pic[;)]

Nice pic there canadmos!

Thats what Canadmos's looks like. Taken with a quick shutter speed itll be more crisp but because the upper part of the lightning is kind of blurry Im going to assume it was more of a time lapse shot.

Could be wrong, but I know Im right because the trees in the background are blurred from movement :P

Yeah, it was a long exposure. I think it was either 25 or 30 seconds. It was actually the last picture I took last night and I was getting quite annoyed trying to get a good picture so I just took it with a long exposure to improve my chances of capturing the lightning.

Yep, that was the storm [:P]. It was pretty cool watching the storm roll over the hills and seeing the entire sky light up from all the lightning. It was odd though, my house didn't get a single drop of rain.
