Back in high school I was in one. We had around 70 members or so. But back in our hayday we had 150+ with 8 state titles and 4 BOA titles.

Arg, campus band sucks, I'm definately joining marching next year. We have 2 snares and the band teacher gets pissed off when we play on the drumset. (not during class, before or after we get started) There's almost never any parts to play either.

Our 2nd show is better...
-Super Mario Brothers
-Zelda
-Tetris

Lucky you... [lol]

Marching band, yeah, I'm doing that right now.

I'm with Pike, for anyone in Indiana who knows. I was section leader last year, and now I'm one of the drum majors. I'm plannning to audition for Phantom Regiment (Div I drum corp) for next year, so wish me luck!

I was the center snare (section leader), but then I moved, marching band isnt that great honestly...the rythms are insane, and pretty amazing and whatnot, but the marching is horrible, marching 4 miles uphill, btw I used to go to Santiago High School back in Corona, CA. We probably had around 500 people or so...

I was debating wether or not to be in marching band this year. I decided that for now, I don't want to do it. Maybe next year. I am however in the jazz band at my school playing Bari Sax and playing it good and loud.

Listen spam boy -- I was also the goalie for varsity ice hockey for four years and the starting nose guard (football) for my junior and senior years.

Come on yourself -- this thread was about HS band, not sports.

And coaster ... you would be surprised at the "rewards" band yielded ... and I don't mean academically. [;)]

Dude, I went to Western, which is just west (go figure) of Kokomo.

I also tried out for Capital Regiment a Div 1 DCI corps, but I realized Drum Corps wasn't for me at all. However, my section leader from high school, played lead for Blue Devils the past two years, and a few other people I know went into Drum Corps.

Man our show is weird, here is my bands site. I was wrong we dont have 180 people, try more like 210.

http://www.lbba.org/

but our show is actually really cool this year. Last year sucked and i hated playing at the Macys Parade. 2 miles isnt for me carrying tenors

Another reason I didn't want to be in a marching band. Carrying around a 30+ pound Bari Sax is torture to the back.

Xtreme, your band is in the big time. And you sure got a lot of Suzaphones.

^Well, hopefully some upperclassmen will graduate and you will get a better instrument. What is it with all the drummers here. Saxes beat drums anyday.

lol, i was a freshman last year. I played bass sorry i put tenor for the macys parade thing. I get mixed up all the time. I played the first bass and that thing gets heavy after the first two blocks. I always wondered why i didnt get put on the cymbal line last year. I was one of three freshman that actually played a drum. The rest played cymbals.

You must have been good enough to play drums then. When I saw my school's band perform I noticed that there were three different sizes of bass drum. Any explaination?

And, showing my lack of drum knowledge even more. What do tenor drums look like?
