Low Cost Flights?

Hi, I need someone's help... i'm trying to organaize a trip to L.A. and NYC and I was searching for a Low Cost Company that operates between those two cities, but I didn't found any low fare (..all over 200$)... so I wonder if is there a flight company that has fares lower than those ones... Here in europe we have companies like ryanair or easyjet that have very low fares (they're often less than 80?????????, and some times you can also flight for free... ) ... Is there any one like theese in the US?

You wont get free flights in the USA unless you work for the airline company itself.
