I have always, always loved Madeon's stuff. But this one is usually my favorite (unless he makes something better). The City is good too, but this is just one massive track with lots of awesome melody and bass guitar swings on the lows.

Oh, and not listening in 360p helps too but it might be 2bassy4me for CK and we would see a one sentence remark about how it kills animals or something.

Well to be fair that Zomboy sh*t was totally not good. It was like the dubstep that you see in montage videos of Call of Duty with 12 year old preteens screaming as they 720-no-scope-blazeitfaggot.

Then again, I only like Skrillex's "dubstep" and don't really like any other dubstep. (I have to put quotations so it doesn't offend EDMfagtards that like to battle over subgenres.) According to the subgenre frontline arguers, he's "electro" so that's probably why I like him.

It also might help CK in that the song I linked is not dubstep, so hopefully that will help him recover quicker from this apparently appalling song. Or I could be wrong and he likes it.

who am I kidding he's not going to like it

Haha, I though it was decent, but I have a higher tolerance for dubstep and other genres, I've noticed. Although I have slowly been growing away from hardcore styles of music (i.e. dubstep and Metal) and moving towards more calm and emotional tracks. My favorite artist right now is Jimmis. This guy is just amazing. I love to lose track of time with this one.

Skrillex makes dubstep. Dubstep is characterized by its 140-150BPM half-time rhythm, it feels like 70-75 BPM.

Skrillex also makes electro house... and drum & bass. But as a whole he would be considered a dubstep artist.

For instance:
First of the Year (Equinox)
Scary Monsters & Nice Sprites
Make it Bun Dem
Ruffneck Bass (Flex/Full Flex)

They're dubstep.

Cat Rats
Kill Everybody
My Name is Skrillex

They're electro house.

Monsta - Holdin' On (Skrillex & Nero Remix)

That one's drum & bass. :)

^Yeah but what would you call Rock n' Roll or Kill Everybody? Those are like electro + dubstep sounds woven in.

That's usually the stuff I like from him. And his more laid back songs like With Your Friends (Long Drive) and Summit.

Wait so techno artists are so bad that they define a genre based on beats per minute?

I can't stop laughing. They're even more worthless than I thought.

Yeah, it's the only creative thing Skrillex has ever done.

By this logic like a good 90% of all albums are multi-genre

No, not exclusively lol. That's a small part of it. It's just to make it possible for DJs to mix the tracks. That's why there's guidelines. But every genre does this. There are a billion different genres of rock and those sub-genres have sub-genres too haha.

To each their own!

You mean with other things that define the subgenre like sound/melody/tempo? Like other subgenres?

Usually the BPM/tempo thing is for neckbeards to place things in ridiculously narrow subgenres and think they know what they're talking about. It's not like every song from "x" genre has to have the same tempo.

What you're talking about is genres as a whole such as "hard rock". If you travel to YouTube neckbeard land and they talk about "complextro chillwave" or some poop then BPM matters because their subgenre is so limited.

As for electronic, subgenres are usually BPM-specific so DJ's (not producers) can mix them together. It's just the nature of it all.

Kill Everybody and Rock and Roll are just electro house. They're ~128 BPM. Rock and Roll just has a half-time section. :)

That's probably why I like them then. Dubstep always just sounds so generic to me and is always about "TEHHH DROPPP OMG THSI DROP" and stuff that I just don't care about. I listen usually listen to electronic because of the way that people customize textures and tones of sounds and really fill out songs in a different way than other genres. I also like it because you can cover a lot more octaves naturally, which allows for more things to be happening at once.

But the minimalist, subtle-tweak songs are high up on my list. It's the reason Deadmau5 is one of my favorite artists. And lucky he's going in the direction I was hoping he'd go for - less party and more stuff like the build on Fn Pig. The little subtle dissonances at 0:07, the rhythms woven in the back, etc. I mean it all gets loud and revealed later in the build, but the beginning is very hidden and I like things like that.

Then on top of that I just like melodies that chain together from different octaves to make a rhythm/song. Basically what Madeon does in some of his stuff.

I especially love the opening guitar instrumental. I don't think I could pick any one favorite A7X song. They're all fun.

I don't know why I'm so addicted to this song as of late.
