I have this wide turn and I do mean wide, high speed. angle = 90 degrees or else lateral g's would kill ya. My question is what are the highest sustained g's you consider acceptable in such a turn. high speed turn that will maintain the high g's say about 5 seconds or so?

5, but i'm a mindbender fan.[approve] but for the average coaster rider, i'd say 4.

5 is really high for 5 seconds if not more. Quite some people will get a blackout of it. I think you should try making it 4, or what about an overbanked turn? Overbanks usually don't pull that much G's.

i agree, 4 should be about right and at the very max 4.3. i also agree with the overbank but if you dont bank it enough or too much, it can still pull high g's.

can't overbank on this one, if you saw this turn, you'd understand why an overbank is impossible. Trust me, only a 90 deg bank is what can save you from lateral g's [pshades] <-- taking intensity to a new level

Personally, I think 5 would be acceptable. It may cause some people to black out, but they'll eventually wake up. [:P]

5 seconds is a long time for 5 g's, even 4. i would say the aboslute most would be 4 g's. I just rode the Mindbender yesterday which pulls a lot of g's on the tilted helix which lasts about 2 seconds, and i was beginning to black out and i was seeing stars.

5 G's for 5 seconds would be a killer!I would have to say somewhere near 4 would be better.

i think 5 is very high, especially for 5 seconds, i'd try to lower it to 3

for that period of time, 4-4.5 should be right.

And, 90 degree banking will never get 0 lateral G's, on a high positive G turn, you should have 0 lats (the amount of lats you can safely sustain is in inverse proportion with the number of positive G's held at the same time), the banking (if I'm understanding this right and it's a flat turn, or a turn where the apex is at the lowest point in the turn)should probably be around 70 degrees.

5 would be the limit for 5 seconds, even though its a lot of time for that amount of gs, most people wouldn't black out until anything over 5 seconds. 4 gs would seem about right but Goliath at SFMM pulls 4 gs for around that amount of time (i think) and its still a lot, but I think around 4 is good.

70 degree bank caused a 3.2 lateral g sustained for about 2 seconds on my turn [:)]

About high long g's... Rock n' Roller start in (Disney Paris) is 5.5 g for 3 seconds (0 to 100 km/h in 2.8 seconds). I experienced it and my hairs enjoyed it very much! lol

I rode that when I was there. 'Tis INSANE! [dorkhat]

Rock 'N Rollercoaster is probably my favorite launched ride. Not to mention dark ride. [pshades]

WWS-

If at 70 degrees it's at 3.2 lats, I strongly doubt that the combination of lats/vercial G's will be acceptable no matter how you bank it.

Remember- the stronger your positive G's, the weaker your lats need to be.

I'd say about 4.5 g's. It would make some people sick, but I love posotive g's, like on the double helix of Goliath and Nitro. If you can keep it just barely above yellow-line, I won't dock points.
