Re: Vortex at CGA to get floorless conversion?

CGA is my home park. I'm a bit mixed on this. First off, I am all for having a much more comfortable ride on Vortex. Honestly, the standing up doesn't do much for me, I find it more uncomfortable than anything. Vortex has some snappy transitions and standing up isn't the best position to be when you...

Re: Skybox help

Yup, Superman is in there too :)

Wish I could figure out why it's all white. If I turn down the fog density, the ground just fades off to black (which I'm in a sense ok with as the mountains are a silhouette on my sunset skybox.

Skybox help

Give or take getting some things aligned when making a skybox, I have an idea of how to make one and have made a few stunning skyboxes over the past couple days. But where I'm running into a snag is the horizons. Where the ground meets the skybox, I either get white mountains, or a white glowing edg...

Off-season visit to California's Great America 3/1/14

IMG_9420.jpg Greetings! I know there's not that many users around the bay area, if any at all. Anywho, California's Great America hosted an offseason tour for ACE NorCal (which I recently joined ACE...politics aside, please). Before I get on with this, I'd like to thank the folks at CGA for hosting...

You can also see distance from the origin when you move your mouse cursor around. If you look at the measurement (X or Z position) at 1 point you'll see a measurement. Make note of that. From here, move your mouse to the other desired location and get the measurement from that. With some simple math...

Working on mine, I've actually been measuring out the given length/height of track in NL2 and making the object in sketchup in relationship to the coaster. On my recent project, I did rather simple buildings to get the measurements down and the door openings in the proper places. Nice thing is that ...

Powder Keg (Mack Mega Coaster)

I've been playing with Sketchup a lot lately. Traditionally, I have never been able to figure out some of the other 3D software out there but managed to get a handle on Sketchup. With this said, this will be one of my first themed coasters I have in the works (I have 2 others I haven't posted yet as...

A 3DS export would be a huge help. I am working on a ride myself that takes place indoors. While I have the main building and launch tunnel made, a lot of this was done with trial and error. There's still the exposed station and brake run. I almost feel like putting this one on hold until there's an...

16:9 is kind of the standard aspect ratio for video, this is typically what I use. 4:3 *was* the norm when we used those clunky CRT monitors and TVs.

I'm looking forward to TPS. While it won't have the stunning graphics of NL2, it should blow RCT3 out of the water when it comes to making parks :)

^ So does this apply to if I want a certain sound to fire off when the train passes by? Here's what I have so far: I have an onboard sound track playing as soon as the ride dispatches. It gets to a brake where it pauses for 5 seconds before it launches. During this pause/when the train hits the brak...

Not to try and hijack this thread but I was curious about where these scripts go...I'm going to try using the scripts you had done to see if I can pull off something similar with a track I'm working on.

The results are in! Top 3 coasters were El Toro, T-Express, and Outlaw Run. I'm very happy to report that my local woodie, Gold Striker, ranked 13. http://www.ushsho.com/woodpoll20yeartable2013.htm Image Insert: http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/file_attachments/Angry_Gumball/201413102333_woodpollre...

Just learning to use Sketchup (I suck at "real" 3D programs) I'm trying my hand at a fully enclosed coaster. Building is simple, may get an upgrade to look more like a hangar. But messing with custom environment (dark shadows) and the building, I'm working on a Flight of Fear-esque coaster. Image In...

Idea, ideas - the creative process

Seeing many of these cool designs out there, I thought I'd start a thread on the whole creative process we all go through when creating a track. What are some of the thought processes you all go through before you place that first node? Do you grab a pen and paper and doodle out a concept/layout? Do...

Environment help - list of questions

I have a few questions involving custom environments... First off, CC member Kyle Sloane's "Speed Monster" coaster with custom environment (http://www.coastercrazy.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=32340)inspired me to tinker with custom environments, in hopes to also have NL2 looking even more realistic...

You could always make the green white...much of SFMM's rides are pretty well sunbaked :p

In all seriousness, if you decrease the saturation in that green a pinch I think you have it's color down.

...if only NL2 offered a "faded" option to the list of ride condition...

Looking good! I'm actually working on a park myself, inspired by SFMM. So far, it has 3 working coasters, though needs some tweaks. Coasters I have are a 4D coaster (was my experiment), a suspended coaster, and my own take on the 2013 coaster Full Throttle...double the length of the real thing!

Those of you who mentioned about the nodes not being in line with...let's say, a footer you placed and got into position...I haven't had any issues and actually accidentally found out that when I selected a footer before placing a free node, the free nodes lined right up!

Awesome! Sometimes the simplest things slip my mind and completely forgot the fact that I can generate only certain supports and then have them stay when I generate the rest of the supports. Thanks!
