Re: A new kind of contest?

Too much trouble, and it's going to be impossible to calculate costs in a way that is at all fair. For instance, higher track costs more to install than lower track (need to use a bigger crane, etc).

Re: Should Disko's Be Counted As Coasters?

Nope. Note brakefins lining entire track length.

Re: Should Disko's Be Counted As Coasters?

I generally don't consider powered coasters coasters if they are powered for 100% of the track distance, as a Disko is. Where do you draw the line there? Are power dark rides coasters? How about stuff like larger Haunted Mansions that have slopes in the track? What about stuff like Larson Ring of Fi...

Re: B&M Giga Coaster

Sure, it only takes off 2-3mph, but there are good engineering reasons in the real world to have a target speed set there.

Re: Mantis at Cedar Point to Get Repainted?

They aren't really especially "painful", but I've also never ridden one and not thought "gee, this sure would be a lot more fun as a normal sit down."

Re: Holiday World 2015

I actually like the first half quite a bit, at least in so much as modern forceless B&Ms go - those two big overbanks world well. The ending seems pretty meh.

Re: Holiday World 2015

I gotta say, this looks pretty good, but $22m doesn't go as far as it used to.

If you switch to low quality the streaming is pretty solid.

Re: New Ride Company Announced: Skyline Attractions, LLC!

Smells like an RMC competitor to me.... 3 ex-GCI folks, and the 4th is owner of a shop doing heavy metal machining and forming.

Re: Iron Cyclone - Six Flags New England 2015?

Note that it's taller and significantly longer than Medusa. The actual running length is only about 200-300ft longer. Rememer SFNE Cyclone has a looooong brakerun originally setup for skids, and a not-especially-tight 180 pre-lift turn vs the fairly compact 90 on medusa. SFNE Cyclone is also about ...

I don't think it will be transformed into Iron Cyclone.
It's not tall enough or fast enough, to push up the height, it'll just be too much work.

Who says they'd have to? They certainly didn't in Mexico, and that ride is pretty close in terms of height/length to the Cyclone.

Re: Video Cards

AMD Cards are better then NVidia Cards. Just sayin.. If you like having shitty drivers and cards that die, sure. Every ATI card I've ever bought (several, across different generations between a 9800 and 4870x2) has had shitty drivers and died an unnatural death. I've had ZERO problems with NVidia c...

Re: Mean Streak really seems pointless and very lame.

I'd argue it has been BETTER, if not good. Substantially so. Look at this POV from the early years: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MNy0VHjWxAo It was running about 20-22 seconds faster then...the pacing is sped up quite a bit. It's still no CCI or RMC, but it has no dead spots and the pacing is tig...

Re: -1.5G on Lightning Run, Really?

-1.5g isn't really that crazy or anything. That's what an S&S Turbo Drop pulls, and that's sustained for a second or so. Some carnival rides are higher...I'm sure coming around the bottom of a Zipper upside down is at least -2.5 to -3, maybe higher.
