Description

So, after 5 long years, I??????m finally back to NL, and here is my return project, Omega. Themed around overgrown Greek ruins and ancient underground caves, Omega is a fast paced Intamin Mega coaster based on the old school megas Goliath (Walibi Holland) and Expedition Geforce, featuring 3 high G helixes, 3 highly banked turns, and of course plenty of airtime, all twisting around treetops, caves and terrain.

Tech:

- This track is 100% clearance tested using the tunnel maker. It only fails the default NL #8805; 1.6 tunnel test below the track (Where riders cannot reach) because the tunnels have unnecessary space there and because the NL tunnels don??????t take into account banking or pitch properly.
- All G forces are within +4.1 (+4.5 spike) and -1.0 (-1.2 spike) vertical, and ??????0.7 (0.9 spike) lateral. (Note: Varies with FPS)

Special Thanks to:

- SupraSix, Jakizle, Metazoanhaddock: Testing.
- Everyone who contributed with thoughts and suggestions in the construction topic.

Notes:

- Be sure to ride in Omega.env, this is very important for the lighting and the coaster looks terrible without it.
- This was designed to be a realistic Intamin Mega coaster, NOT a mega-lite. Please consider shaping, layout, etc. as such.
- Requires NoLimits #8805; 1.6, the NoLimits Track Packager, and 18mb (!) of hard disk space.
- WARNING: High 3ds content. If you need to turn down settings, I highly recommend leaving scenery and reflections on, they??????re quite important to the ride. I would suggest simply using a lower resolution.

Well, it??????s great to be back, and I hope you enjoy what is hopefully the first of many creations of my return.

WOW!! what an amazing ride!! You really do have some skills when it comes to Nolimits.

The pacing of this ride was great and the tunnels and head choppers added a good effect to it to.

Wow! This was one of the best NoLimits coasters I've ever seen! Tech: This was nearly flawless, almost all of the shaping was flawless. Your Shaping on some of the turns just seemed the slightest bit off to me. The lift bugged me though, it should have had a more realistic cable lift track and not just two skinny beams. Adr: Wow! This coaster kept a furious pace all the way through the ride. Their wasn't a moment where I felt as if the ride could have been more exciting. Great scenery interaction, it was just outstanding. The canyons, caves, and tunnels all added to the ride's atmosphere.Orr: I see people all of the time saying "not ANOTHER Greek ride" but honestly, how many of those ride are executed properly. I can only think of 3 off the top of my head. DC's Artemis, A113's Sigma, and your Omega. This ride was just truly breathtaking.

Keep up the fabulous work,

First off, my EVGA PCI-Express video card pegged this sim at 100 fps during most of the ride. Only twice, for a split second, did the fps fall down to 80 fps.

WOW!! Loved the Omega 3D environment!
What a coaster! Everything was perfect. The tunnels, the ruins, the station entrance and exits. I did notice that the train didn't line up exactly with the queue one time, but what the heck! We'll blame that on the stupid operator.

Tech: Please explain to me how much better the technical side of this ride could get.

Adrenaline: The pacing on this ride was outstanding and the 360, high G, tight radius finish was ... should I say awesome? NO!, Whooooo hooooo! Also loved the brake because it didn't give me a whiplash. Gotta love that. This frisky little devil jumped, bobbed and weaved like a prize fighter or a black belt karate man.

Originality: Here again, the layout of the track really made this ride stand out. No loops but who needs 'em the way this track twists and turns leaving the rider wondering where the H E double L am I?

Glad you're back!

It's track like this that make it worth keep coming back here every so often looking for updates. Little details like contrails in the sky do wonders for realism.

T: nothing noticeable technically that detracts from the realism. Ride was smooth front and back.

A: good pace, not too long nor too short. Again, a realistic length and thrills throughout.

O: 3DS was well used and not overly done. It complimented the track well. Some people criticize the use of 3DS, but with tracks like this, there is no reason to criticize. The stalactites were a good thrill device.

This is by far my favorite coaster yet! It happens to be just so simplistically perfect to me. I love the tunnels you added with the ride and how the chainlift leads up with a familiar beginning but a totally unexpected ride. Great work keep it up!

Perfect IMO as I myself didn't see any flaws in the ride and if there were any, I didn't notice. G forces felt fine to me and the ride was 'a pure adrenaline rush' as I've not seen a coaster this intricate on the site. Really loved going through the cave tunnels and the scenery was top notch! Keep it up and great job.

this was an outstanding coaster, very smooth and very fluent with a great variatey of elements and forces

the paceing felt great with it diveing in and out of the landscape, the scenery was very well placed and aided the pace.

i only have 2 gripes with it. firstly the newton transitions as mentioned but this will smooth out. im working with the program still aswell so im shure with time it will iron out that. the only other thing was the top of the lift hill was a little tight and could of done with a shallower curve and mabye a little more speed on the lift.

other than those 2 it was outstanding and very very well exicuted

I don't think any other ride has done what this one did. I literally just closed the sim with wide eyes. I think my mouth was open too, but I'm not sure.

T: Really damn good, and that's not considering your little time using Newton. A few transitions DID feel a little "Newton'd", though. The overbank-ish turn during your second visit in the central caves is one of the few examples I can come up with. I remember you complaining about transitions not having a nonzero first or second derivative capability, so some transitions are simply impossible to get right. Shaping was really good. That's all I can say about that.

A: Holy s**t. This is where the ride just won me over. Absolutely crazy pacing regardless of its somewhat average speed all the way through. The stengel dive was a tad slow, but it IS a stengel dive. There was constant interaction with other track when you enter into the caves, which only added to the illusion of speed. I really, really liked the ~4.2-G helix right at the end. It nails you into your seat right before the brakes to give you something to remember. That would be one of those things that riders would mention to their friends if it was real. The ejector air was executed really well, too. More often than not I see people trying to throw ejector air into places where there simply isn't enough speed to pull it off right so their hill crests are pointy enough to cut somebody. Not the case here. And also, I read in a rating guide somewhere on this site that 3ds adds only to originality. Well screw that rating guide. Those caves made the ride feel much faster and 100s of meters longer than it really was.

O: <--That's kinda what my face was like when I saw the 3ds and theming. O:

There's really not much to be said about your theming. Your helices and sweeping turns sort of fit the whole circularity of the ruined pillars. 'Twas nothing short of sexy.

By the way, when you said something about a minute touch, I was looking for something small like a few block sensors. My eyes were fixed on the track all the way up the lift. I had given up on looking during my 3rd time up the lift, and that's when I saw it. My blind was mown. I've only seen something similar to that once on Cypher III by Dcs. As I type this, I realize that you deserve another .25 points to your originality. *clicks 9.5*

Final thoughts:

alrighty then. what a ride.

T: I can see where you put attention into shaping. specifically the helix at the end, the stengal dive, and the bottom of the drop and the turn afterwards. I'm sure you spend alot of time shaping ALL of it, but those areas really stood out to me. Some of the transitions were what i like to call "newton-generic" in my opinion, but honestly that was the only bad part about the entire ride. You're learning newton and you're already miles ahead of others who have been using newton for a year now. (like myself haha). Just work on those transitions a bit more and you'll have it down.

A: 10. nuff said.

O: The megacoasters are literally my favorite style of coasters. Expedition and goliath have been such an inspiration to me and it sucks that those types of intamins rarely pop up on here. its all about rockets and megalites which get a bit boring... I have to give you tons of originality points simply because you made a megacoaster, but ontop of that your scenery was amazing and entertaining.

All around just a good solid ride that had it all. glad to see you building again bud.

What a coaster! I think your goal of learning newton is well on its way.

T-The g's were in check all through out the ride, and it passed e-stop and tunnel test! The supports were good and well thought. The trackwork was great! This being your first coaster in newton, really has something to say.

A-The pacing through out this ride was great. There wasn't really a TTD rush to it but, it still gave a pretty decent hype of adrenaline.

O-The 3ds were phenomenal! I was shocked to hear you used the OC on your rides. Really says something on your attention to detail. Which was also great. With the OC, you are indeed limited, but you have found a way past that to give the rider a great ride with high quality 3ds.
