I enjoy playing disc golf. It is quite fun. I have been pretty into it for a while now. Does anyone else participate in this fun activity?

I've seen it on TV and wished that I could at least try it once, but I don't know where courses are and what not. Do you actually play at a real course?

Yeps. There are 3 courses in San Diego (my hometown), and about 5 up where I go to college.

You can find courses here : http://www.dgcoursereview.com/

There is a wooded course nearby where I live. I was amazed at how many people actually use the course. I've been thinking about buying some discs and giving it a try.

There are quite a few nice courses near me but I haven't played in a couple years. It's pretty fun though and I do think I should try to get back into it sometime.

Thats really interesting. Hopefully I'll be able to play sometime! Only time I've played is gym class and we had to land in a circle, not too much fun, especially with the crappy discs they give you. How much does it cost to play at a decent course?

Do you get carts? lol.

Matters where you go. Some courses have golf carts (the ones built on golf courses usually). Most are free, but some charge, but its only like 5 bucks. Just stick to the free courses though.

Ya collecting the discs can be fun also. Its fun figuring out what discs work best for each situation.

In Minnesota, and I would assume the rest of the country, it's all free and open to anyone, just bring your own discs.

The only one near me, about two and a half hours away. I'll have to check it out sometime! It's 5 bucks, but I'll probably stop to the Great Escape or something along the way. Thanks for the site, haha!

looks cool though: Image

Will do! Hopefully next weekend I'll be able to drive out there an give it a try! I've been wanting to do this for years but never thought there was actually a course anywhere even in New York!

My son and I play disc golf. In fact, we're heading up to one of the local courses today to play. We have one of the USDGA headquarters sites in the area and were able to have the national championship here in Augusta back in 2006.

What kind of discs do you guys throw? My favorite is a 175 gram Innova Beast, which I throw sidearm.

I throw Orcs for backhand drives, sidearm drives are Flick and Destroyer, Coyote and Roc for Mid/rollers, and a Gateway Wizard for putting.

I use an Orc for shots that I need a big right turn at the end. I lost 2 of my favorite discs recently. A 175 Roadrunner, and a 171 Orc. I bought replacement but they don't quite the same.

Disc golf is pretty awesome. I played for my first time last Sunday and I'm going to play again on Tuesday.

The course close to my house is free and has 28 marked holes and even more unmarked holes...it's nuts.

I don't have my own discs yet but was using my friends.

For my first go I used this disc:

http://www.innovadiscs.com/discs/wolf.html

It was alright, but as you can see, it's not made for distance. It did go very straight, however.

We have about 5 course locations within a 20 minute drive from my house. One of those locations(the USDGA office) has 2 courses and from what I understand, plans are in place for a 3rd.

Today, I played with the current #1 ranked Amateur Master in Georgia. He didn't play his best but he still beat me by 9 strokes. It was unreal to watch how far and accurate he could throw.

I've got a 10 year old who plays too. When Mike saw him throw he just about crapped a brick. The kid throws almost as far as I do, and further than most recreational adults.

I played it on Super Monkey Ball.

It was bananas.

When throwing forehand I love using the Destroyer and the Discraft Flick. The Destroyer is great for just chucking, and i have passed the 400 mark a couple times using it. Then the flick is more of a precision shot, and it is very reliable and easy to control for 300 feet and under.
