Earth Hour

Is anybody participating in Earth Hour? Go to Google.com's homepage and click the Earth Hour link about midway throught the page.

I leave things off as much as possible as is, so I guess I'm *technically* participating.

I love how Google has turned out the lights on their homepage in respect to the aforementioned "Earth Hour".

yeah it was nice..
i'm so stoked.. i'm sure they really changed alot of what "was" wrong with the world..
phew. that was a close one.. i really thought we were all gunna die of global warming until i saw that they did that ..
by the way.. i hate to sound all cynical, but if you read into it you might notice that city "governments" are involved. that isnt good..

C.C. should "turn the light out" on this site, i.e. black background, buttons, etc.

I'll be participating. I sent out about 20 texts to my friends and they're all participating. Oh man I should make a quick coaster and release it before it starts at 8pm [:)]

the reason the google dosnt have the black theme permenently is

according to a note on the site. "As to why we don't do this permanently -- it saves no energy; modern displays use the same amount of power regardless of what they display," says Google.


which is true, hence its BS about that alternative black google that they have somewhere

Google didn't make their background black to save electricity. Do you know how many people access Google each day? Thousands, maybe millions. They were trying to spread the word.

Well Earth Hour has been over for a couple hours. I was at the movies from 8-9 so my lights and other electronics were off.

I left all the lights on and left the house last night so I wouldn't have someone breaking in [:)] I did not participate in Earth Hour but I did my part to compensate for the people that did participate.

my bad.
but then again, oh well. i could turn my stuff off any other hour of the day.

I don't have to turn off my lights, Eskom does it for me.

At earth hour the clock shifted here from 2am to 3am, so yeah... Nothing was on during that period

i participated... i was at a hockey game [;)]

I didn't really participate, but I always make sure that lights are off when rooms are not being used.

One hour? How does that do anything to reduce the amount of fossil fuels we're burning?

i see kevin's point, even though my family and i did participate we were all like "well what's the point? there's gonna be hundreds of people who forget, deliberately turn everything on for a laugh, or just plain don't care" and it's true! no matter what you Maccabees say.
