Carowinds will install a $6.5 million, 30-story ride that will add to the skyline at the theme park, which straddles the Carolinas border south of Charlotte.

WindSeeker?????????s 301-foot tower also will be visible at night, thanks to an elaborate LED lighting system, says Bart Kinzel, Carowinds vice president and general manager.

The ride, scheduled to be ready in the spring, rises almost 70 feet taller than the park's Intimidator roller coaster.

Carowinds is my homepark and this was a bit of a letdown for me. There are several reasons that I do not care for this. 1) Its going to be placed right across from the Sky Tower when they are virtually the same ride. 2) I've ridden the one at CP which wasn't bad, but it offered nice views of Lake Erie as well as the park. But with this all you will really get are views of good 'ole I-77 and the park.

But I guess its better than nothing, and Cedar Fair also purchased a huge chunk of land, so hopefully that will bring about more exciting additions.

Wow!!! CF is becoming more cookie-cutter than Six Flags. @Gav, I wonder if they bought them through Costco.
