Kinda reminds me of parallel aluminum or coat hanger wires with small rectangular woodsies either super glued or duct taped in between.

Um in fact, I have seen that coaster somewhere on CC - I can't remember the title of a thread with that image, though. Thanks for sharing one wacky fun!
