Maths Question

Take 1000 and add 40 to it. Now add another 1000.
Now add 30. And another 1000.
Now add 20. Now add another 1000. Now add 10.
What is the total?

I hate maths, for the smart ones, lets not spoil for everyone else just laugh at them

No, techincally 4100 is right, even in the context its written. It depends if you read it like someone were telling you or reading it with correct language skills.

Answer is 3100 but I still stand by 4100 also being correct.

1000
+40=1040
+1000=2040
+30=2070
+1000=3070
+20=2090
+1000=3090
+10=4100
Unless you take it very litteraly, so "take 1000" = -1000

Shiny is close, and is one way to get the correct answer but I believe his "riddle" has another part meant to catch you but I still think its flawed

maybe the first 40 should be added to the 1000 so it say take 1040.....wich will make it 3060

Am I missing something? All my life, 1000 + 1000 + 1000 + 1000 + 40 + 30 + 20 + 10 has equaled 5000. I assume the basic laws of adding have not changed.

The answer is 4100. Use a calculator Doing it in your head leads you to beleive 4090 + 10 is 5000. For some reason you think that the sum is 4900+100. Its wierd but i loved it
