Python at Efteling to be Retracked for 2018!

Efteling has announced that their Vekoma looper Python will undergo a retrack for 2018. They selected the company CSM to retrack the ride instead of Vekoma and hope to reopen the ride in March.

I really hope this turns out well but the fact that they went with a company that does not specialize in rollercoasters instead of Vekoma does frighten me a little and seeing the new track design does not do much to alleviate these fears.

Do you know what "CSM" stands for? I searched for the company on Google but couldn't find it.

Nope the article didn't specify what it stood for and I've never heard of them before this.

It's a Belgian company. Seems that they have quite some experience manufacturing steel track. But have you seen those crossties? Looks unreal to me.

It's interesting that they worked with Mack Rides on Helix and Pulsar.

They probably weren't allowed to copy the tie design exactly and went with the cheapest solution instead, welding some tubes together. It would have been better if they just had Vekoma redo the track imo.

Generally speaking, a circle is the strongest shape there is, and any sort of strong angle is bad for fatigue.

It definitely looks weird with this new track type. I do hope the trains will still fit. It looks like it's less deep then normal?

It probably has something to do with the direction from which force is applied... or something like that.

If you replaced the circular sections on that new track with triangular sections the entire thing would be weaker.

Triangles are a strong within structure but as a section they aren't as strong because they have to resist multiple force directions.
