i am NOT HAPPY with my track. Its just turning out being just another "hoppy" and "turny" coaster that fits the tempelate.

It just figures that spring break is NEXT week and its a judging week. that means that this past week, ive been swamped.

im at "work" now and getting my laptop out.

btw
if you have vista and you have that problem with the snap, go to the task manager and disable...waiting on the comp to boot... "dwm.exe" - desktop windows manager

Vid_w, you're the first person i see using (or rahter making) guide beams in the middle of the track. I know what they do but i was wondering why you put them there.

the barrier is nowhere near my hand rails, but they do collide in the sim- is this ok?

Guide beams? I don't recall using them? I only made those to represent those chainbrakes that are usually on top of the hills on woodys...

Don't really know exactly why they're used, but IMO it makes the ride more authentic...

I don't really know what guide beams are, so we could actually be talking about the same thing...

We are taling about the same thing. Those guide beams are used to make sure the train keeps going straight. Troy has them too. On certain spots, the train may too much margin between the rails, the guidebeams guide the brake fin and thus the train.

But why do you call them chain breakers?

a quick question, can the footers be outside the template as long the support node from the footer is inside the template?

Dirk, the entire footer should be inside the template (in the editor)

Vid, the guide-beams on BB are outfitted with anti-rollbacks, that's the reason they're on top of the hills.

Guide the brakefin? I don't know too much about wooden coasters but unless you know something I don't, then I'm fairly sure that's not the case. Not sure but I think things like that are just extra support to make sure the track maintains it's shape. Roar has some here and there, but they're diagonally place in the track, further confirming that the brakefin has nothing to do with it.

Vid, the sound you hear on some woodies near the apex of hills is not from a chain, but rather from the dog hitting some antirollbacks.

^I think they're anti-rollback segments. On Texas Giant at SFoT, at the top of the helix has those and, at the same spot, goes very slowly. There's a distinct clacking sound when you go over them, and I always assumed there was a mechanism under the train that plucked against it so if the train went backwards, it would grapple on.

Plus, there's no motor under there, so I doubt it's a chain...

Is this a joke? Only gazag was more stupid by putting 3 trains on the track. I can't think up a logical reason why you missed the handrails going over the blue lines.

I could be wrong, but the brakefin probably slides alongside of that so when the train hits the turn, it doesn't apply as much lateral force to the steel.

^no, not that one. I took that picture myself (look at the credits). That's a line the builders use as the center of the track when putting up rails.

On second, i did some research and i might be wrong about the actual guiding of the brakefin. But i am sure that those beams have anti-rollsback on them.

damn it. I thought it said maximum height 30m. That's such a shame. The top of a template usually signifies the maximum height.
