Since the release of this being right around the corner, and me not knowing much about it...

Will NL see any benefits to using Direct X10? Speed increase, color, performance increase? Or will there be no change at all?

Just curious to this. Thanks! [^]

I doubt direct x10 will bring anything new to the table that NL can't already utilize in some shape or another with direct x9. Anywho, it may play nicely into new key graphical features added into Nl 2, but we'll see.

Hmm. I thought it was because of DX that we got the really nice water effects.

I dunno how Ole actually did it, but one could assume that "DirectX algorithms" were used to create the "water object", while OpenGL as usually was used to render said water object. The keyword simply could be "function library", so it seems.

Also, again I do smell the usual "higher version number is better! gimme!! gimme!!!" debate with this one. Each time some company comes up with some whacky PR announcements, multiple peeps fall for that hot air, instead of once thinking about how to fully utitlize and exploit the existing stuff. In case you got a brain, try to use that! Now!! Else, condolences...

I'm sure Ole will utilize the very best of both DX and GL for whatever upgrades and new versions of NL, just like he already has brilliantly done with every existing one.

So why ask about something you don't even know about how to be best used for NL? [;)]

P.S. Same with:
"Meeehhh NL won't run on Vista".
It's *your* fault then, stoopid! [:p]
