Make them at least 4 vertices, or else it won't be as circular, and using the "C2" option is helpful in making helices as well.

using a cylinder or just a 3ds ring helps greatly as well.

I just starting doing that WWS. I didn't think anyone else thought of using a 3DS cylinder as a template. It works awesome and it's surprising to see after making a helix to the best of my ability and then bringing in the cylinder, how off I really was.

well i'd use 3 to 4 vertices, trying to form a perfect circle look, now depending on the speed is how big you want your helix to be, you can't go through a small helix going 60 mph, so after you create your ideal helix take something round similar to the size of the helix, and see if it is the same shape, look at the helix from all views, make sure your vertice handles look similar to each other, then go test, if it isn't to your satisfaction, keep adjusting the handles.[:)]

I know this sounds kind of cheap, but sometimes, when I don't upload a track on here, I actually use things like a quarter, can of pop, etc., to make a circular shape.
