Why are you guys so bad at making holes for science unlike 'MURICA?

The American equipment they were using was rubbish and kept melting the ice all around, instead of just the location they were trying to drill. Saw this on tv a few days ago.

'MURICA is using equipment McGuyvered in 'MURICA by 'MURICAns.

(It's traditional buoy mounted instruments daisy chained into a line and put in a metal cylinder. They're also reprogrammed to work with each other)

Gouldy the British Antarctic Survey website says ya'll failed at aligning boreholes and used up all the fuel trying to align them. No equipment failure :-D

Also to be fair it's really a shame because that Dr. Siegert guy puts out good papers.

If it went on to explain why the boring wasn't in line; it was because the hot water they were to using while boring was leaking out into the surrounding ice and making it collapse. Or at least that's what was being said on the telebox... [lol]

Shoddy equipment, I'm sure [;)]

Just take a look at the Edinburgh Tram System: Began construction in 2008; after a year and a hundred million pounds, they realised that rain has a funny habit of freezing during winter causing all the work to be dug up and redone; After two years and half a billion pounds, they realised they were broke, but it would actually cost more to remove the tracks than to keep building. Cue 2013, and ?????????800 million pounds later - current completion date: 2015.

And what exactly does this tram do? It slowly goes 8 miles from the city centre to the airport - a route that a perfectly good bus already does for a fraction of the price...

Gotta love British efforts!

The Scottish are pretty bad at large scale and expensive projects (he says, hoping no one remembers Wembley), like their parliament building, which also became a farce. Even though they did end up with a pretty s3xy building.

My point is, Scottish people are bad and shouldn't be trusted with your money.

I'd like to add that bagpipes are horrendous and wearing a kilt does not make you special or unique.

EDIT: Just wikipedia'ed the Scottish Parliament building thing. I'm usually pro-modern architecture but that building looks like a bad idea someone tried in Minecraft.

Second edit: Penguin picture courtesy of my friend waiting to leave for drilling in Antarctica. Ground is too slushy for aircraft to take off and land. Adding this because penguins are always acceptable.

Wow that building is a mess. Who the hell approved that monstrosity, especially for a public building.

It is. It is quite an important building, architecturally - but from the outside, it's probably quite controversial.

The windows are really weird. Kind of reminds me of maison a bordeaux, although there the funky windows serve a very practical, and humble purpose.
What are these for?
