How to take videos in NL 1.7

how do you do this...i heard that there is an in game recorder.

Numberpad 0 is the way ... however, to really record good videos the best recommendation is a program called Fraps. You can really finish them off proper, although it is not free.

My experience with the built-in video is that it SEVERELY lowers your framerates. I've never tried Fraps, and have resorted to taking vids with my cell phone camera and editing them on my mac. But yeah, fraps has gotten several good recommendations from people all over. Cell phones seem to work fairly well, too, although the quality is terrible. I built my own stand for my phone out of legos so I can do whatever I want with the simulator. Another suggestion is just using a household camcorder to take the video.

It lowers your framerate in game but the video is still at whatever framerate you specify. The NL recorder is actually great, just make sure to change your resolution to something smaller like 640x480 to have a manageable file size in the end. Sure it might take 5 or so minutes to record, but it is an exact copy of whatever you seen in the sim to a large list of framrates.

ya, i have used fraps... but i dont really like it

i tested the NL recorder several times and it seemed to work fine for me [;)] therefore all of my future videos will be the in-game recorder, not fraps [:D]
