that's because i didn't see this until just now
combining two of the most annoying things in the world (generic ska and christian "rock") might be a good way to keep people with any inkling of good taste away from church

Did you know that there are some great "christian" bands out there?[:O] Most of it sucks, badly, but every now and then bands like Red, Underoath, and Submerged make us beg to differ. I am a "Christian", but nontheless I listen to plenty of "Non-christian" rock, and must say that many "christian" bands are better than or equal to their "secular" counterparts.

PS- The reason I put quotes around those adjectives is that "Christian" isn't a genre. "Secular" isn't either. It just seems that if members of a band are christian, then the band gets slapped with the label, "christian band". Many of the bands I mentioned' songs say nothing about God or even refer to him in any way. I dare you listen to them.

underoath is a perfect example of christian rock being a "genre". that label doesnt come from members being part of the christian faith, it comes from the lousy "genericness" of the music. theres almost always something about it that at best reaches levels near mediocrity. it's as if christians have always been afraid to become truly good artists.http://www.crossway.org/product/0891073531
this book was written (by a christian) explaining this phenomenon.

A reason for that is they (many christian bands) try to appeal to too many people, and you can't be friends with everyone.
