Hey, So I was wondering which do you think is better, Kingda Ka, Or Top Thrill Dragster, there are many reasons why many would pick one or another. Kingda Ka accelerates faster, and Top Thrill Dragster has lapbar restraints. So Which do you prefer?

we've tackled this in other Kingda Ka threads, but I'd say Kingda ka, just because it has one more element than what TTD does. Being the first, does not mean that its more fun, it just means its more special. [;)]

I would say TTD. With Real's commentary on how KK vibrates and shuffles it does not seem like the most stable ride there is. TTD also has only lap bars.

Whats the point of an "airtime" hill if there is no airtime?

Edit: I'm sure TTD's queue is very hot. Another reason I like TTD is that they run a lot more trains than KK.

I'd say TTD just because of the restraints. Great freedom. The height is statistical and probably not noticable. IMO, TTD would feel higher since your looking out over water. But TTD's queue looks deathly hot, and boring.

Well, the airtime hills have ALOT of airtime, almost dang near Storm Runners which I think is the most intense on a steel coaster BUT with the way it shuffles like CRAZY and the slower operation, my vote has to go to TTD.

The restraints dont bother me as much since I felt just as free as on Dragster.

However, if SF figures a way to totally fix the shuffle and speed up the load times, Id pick KK easily.

Not sure why Dragsters queue looks hot. Theres misters every 10ft or so and 75% of it is covered. KK's queue was just as hot and I waited at 9 at night! At least with Dragster you are inside the ride and you have full access to watch it. KK quarantines you away from the ride. Its one of the faults Ive listed - you never get anywhere near the ride so you never feel part of it.

Well if TTD's queue is covered, then the pictures I've seen aren't up to date. Were they just added this season?

More intense? LOL. It accelerates slower, its slower by 10mph (On average) and it doesnt pull nearly as many G's. Not sure if you rode the same KK but its certainly far more intense than Dragster.

Which is what, right now, makes it worse than Dragster. It just seems like it cant handle the G's and speed's. Hopefully something gets worked out.

So KK uses otsr's because of stronger g forces and airtime?

I've only been on TTD, but I want to ride KK simply because the launch has a higher acceleration g's on the launch..

I think the otsr's are mostly for the airtime. It is pretty intense and Im sure with lap bars it would be a little on the extreme side.

I havn't been on KK but I voted for TTD because of how rough I've heard KK is. Also, none of the queue for TTD was covered when I was there last summer and it certainly wasn't boring because you're right in the middle of the ride.

KK, not the heigt or the speed, u can't tell the diffenerce, only computer sensor can...
but i just prefer it because it has something extra, not just an abrupt ending right after you've just got a lot of speed going downwards

What we really need is a 400+ foot coaster with a real layout. I bet with that kind of energy a coaster over 10,000 feet could be made. Of course, the whole ride would be about $100,000,000.

And the only place with a budget that high is already building a ride that isnt even 300ft tall but its enclosed in a huge mountain. ;)

i think a lot more, 100,000,000 is the price of that new mountian thing at disney

i wish i knew the construction price of Superman:Escape so i could calculate how much i would cost...

We may be able to base the price on how much it cost to build Steel Dragon 2000. But then again, Intamin stratas and Morgan gigas are two different things.

SD2K was over $50 million. I know that a lot of this cost came from earthquake proofing.
MF was $25 million.
TTD was $25 million.
Superman the Escape was $20 million.

All of these amounts are in US dollars.

I dunno if this will help or not.
