An air ambulance arrived on the scene to take Mr Young to Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital from the park which was closed to the public at the time.

The performer was starring in the 'Pirates of Skeleton Bay' show in Lego City, a show which has been described as featuring 'high energy, high diving, and thrilling pirate-themed live action.'

Jay's brother Lewis, who has worked as a stuntman on the 'Harry Potter' and 'Pirates of the Caribbean' films spoke about his sibling's current condition to the Daily Echo local newspaper. He said: "The spinal cord isn't severed but it's seriously damaged. They're quite hopeful for the mobility coming back in his arms, but they're not hopeful for his legs.

"It's going to be absolutely devastating. I'm still numb about it. We're just hoping for good news."

According to Legoland's website, the show has now been pulled from the events schedule.

A spokeswoman from the show's organiser, SGA Productions told Yahoo! UK News today that a full investigation into the accident by health and safety officials is now under way and performance routines have been adapted under their advice.

She added: "This is an isolated incident in the history of shows and events organised by SGA Productions. As with all our events, only fully trained professionals were employed and all precautions were taken to ensure the highest possible safety levels for both staff and spectators alike."

"It is a deeply regrettable incident and we remain in regular contact with the family regarding progress"
