Question: Can you send your track in earlier, like 2-3 days before ending date of round? (i guess you can)
Another Question: Can you send in more then 1 version of your track?

I really wish I had time to do this, but with exam week coming closer and closer, I won't have time to spend making a decent ride. I might try the next contest if I get a chance

All registrants so far are signed up, and all the questions are answered (check the main page).

Tyler, as far as doing the seedings, it is not an option. Everyone has an equal chance in this contest, and seeding the ranks would give the better designers a serious advantage. Sometimes there are great matches in the first round, but most of the time there will be an even spread. Good matches keep the contest interesting.

Meh, still not fully supporting the tools rule, but I will give it a shot, so ya enter me. Its obviously not fair when one can make an uber smooth helix in so little time, where a hand-builder would normally take a day or two. I will be quoting you on the fact that technicality isnt playing a big role here. [:)]

Yes, it would definately be nice to have a no tools rule. Because I can build really good without the tools. And I would hate to get beat by a person who has no NL skill, but they put out a really good track from tools.

I'm just shocked that someone could be so closeminded. It takes quite a bit MORE knowledge of how the sim works, and proper design practices to use the tools.

Yes it may take knowledge, but it is still an advantage over the other person. You can make a smooth element extremely quickly with a tool because it does all the heartlining and smoothing for you just about. Making rides by hand takes a whole lot longer and JUST as much knowledge, because you have to know how to smooth your rides yourself. If you dont you can seriously mess up your work. And it takes a very long time, so by the time you have finished a track, we have only got on to smoothing the third elment.

Anyway i might go to the tools debate to carry this on like WWS said. [:)]

Yep, and you also must remember how the track reacts when you manipulate the nodes in certain directions. Sometimes the tracks dont come out as smooth, but at least you know YOU built it.

*gulps...

I'll... try... it... 3 coasters in 30 days, not good at that since I tend to waste time and stuff.

Oh well, I'll try it anyways. Pair me up with a n00b please. I want to at least have a chance of getting into the 2nd round. [lol]

EDIT: I found that I have other coasters to finish (And one of them has been delayed for months), so I probably won't have time for this. Count me out until I post that I can go back in.

And if it's too much, just keep me out the contest then.

Putting a final comment on the "tools" debate... With knowledge of the sim and how to smooth and reduce pumping, tools are practically no advantage. I competed in match-up contests past, and made several winning coasters without ever using a single tool. Look no further than my 3 contest tracks, KAZAN, SPECTRE, and THE HELIX if you want to see how coasters that were made with no 3ds whatsoever, and no NL tools, can still be right up near the top of the competition. Besides, the templates I have created for this contest require alot of creativity, and that aspect will be a huge portion of your score. In real life, I could care less if the coaster has a few bumps as long as the pacing keeps me on the edge of my seat the whole ride. I'm not saying that you should neglect smoothing... it does help... all I'm saying is not to worry too much about going against perfectly smooth coasters. If you make a great coaster without tools, it is a great coaster no matter what. If you make a crappy coaster with tools, it is still just smoothed and heartlined crap. Okay, I think I've said enough.
