Now I hear the lap bar closing sound, but the lap bar doesn't close until a few seconds later while the car moves backward a few inches, then the lap bar closes and the coaster moves back and forth a tiny bit, never going any where.

^How did you get that to work? Mine won't even start because "the track is too short" (at 14 feet long)

The station has to be just the right length, and it only works with this track type.
