Burning a Linux ISO

I already have the ISO recorder thing since I'm running windows and I read that I need to verify the iso using MD5checksum or soemthing. do I really need to verify the iso?

and one more thing sorry. I have an Athlon64 and you probly know it works with both 32-bit and 64-bit OSes. In that case, which version should I get if I have the option of either the 64-bit or the regular 32-bit that works with intel and other athlon processors? I mean, would the drivers work either way? or would I have to find 64-bit versions? also, how would I verify the thing just in case?

and I'm gonna try Ubuntu out first. What does it mean if it's a live version?

will someone explain linux to me...? though i can only run protools in windows, i'm pretty sure i can run other programs like no limits in linux... is that true.. all i know about linux is that unlike windows only one program runs at a time...

A Linux distro is another Operating System. They are open-source and the source code is usually available for download and modification. The great thing about Linux is that it's free and it usually has a better performance record than Windows Does. All the programs for Linux are also free.

To use Linux on Windows, download vmware an you can run it off that.

so, in terms of this 64-bit thing, you say just about all my drivers should work no matter which platform I get it on? I mean its obvious on windows 64 you need 64-bit drivers, but is it different for linux?

Well if your running Linux, I believe your drivers are fairly limited to start with.

use linux like you would windows: just install the version that seems like it will best meet all your needs and/or system specs/requirements

if there is a 64 bit version, get it, if not, dont worry, it'll still run

just make sure to partition your drive if you want to run the linux off you HD and not a disk.

I've read enought to know what to do and what not to do, but my question was if there was such a thing as 64-bit/32-bit linux drivers so I'd know whether or not I needed to find 64-bit linux drivers. But now I know, so thanks.
