Ok - WWS, Edge, whoever...what format are we supposed to use for a custom avater? and will our AIM buddies work?

supposed to have an avatar uploaded on some website which will allow external linking, get the link of it and place the link to the image in the place indicated in the points store and voila, though be warned, if you edit your profile after such thing, it will remove the custom avatar. I have not tried finding a fix for this.
