Hey whitewolf, you know how most people use shininess to help make ther water material, well I don't know where that is in the roll outs or do I need a plug in like ray max or something?

in the defult mat materials (like standard and raytraced) there is two roll outs called specular, and glossyness. Specular is how much of the light is reflected back, and glossyness is how narrow the light being reflected back is. For example, something like crome would have a spec. of about 250 and a glos. of maby 80. something like aluminum would have a spec. of around 100 and a glos. of 20. for whater, you want a high glossyness (from about 70 to 90) and a mid spec (about 80 to 150) i think that should help you out. and BTW i think hte plug in that your thinking of is called v-ray, it's a material/renderer plugin for max. I have tryed using it and it's very complicated and hard to get good results. on that cave pic that i made I used a plugin called Brazil (it's also a material/renderer pluging for max) I could have goten similar effects with just the basic max, but Brazil can add little things that really make better materials.

I hope that this has answered your question
