Looks like they made the switch over...Hopefully this will improve the ride because I've heard some bad things but it's always looked like a cool layout to me. Anyway, more pics: http://bgtguide.com/bgt/gwazitrain

hmm... well Millenium Flyers are pretty comfortable and keep up their speed pretty well, I'm all for it.

Awesome! Gwazi was built for these things... I like the rough-and-tumble of PTCs on coasters with flat corners and lots of airtime and lateral g's, but they just didn't work on Gwazi. It focused too much on tight, high-banked turns, and this I believe caused a lot of the roughness. So this is great news, and I think this will definitely make it run smoother and faster.

Maybe it'll end up being a wussy ride like what happened to Wildcat.

There's another possibility I personally hope could be the outcome; I've heard rumors that Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, which in my opinion, desperately needs a wooden coaster, has not built one due to dissatisfaction with Gwazi. I suspect some of that dissatisfaction is in the maintenance. Had they put MF's on it in the first place, we might have a GCI here in Virginia by now. Perhaps MF's on Gwazi could make them rethink Williamsburg....

Even though we do NEED a wooden coaster, Kingsmill ruins our dreams of it...

Isn't there some sort of problem with the bald eagles they have too? Something about noise and being classified as a preservation or something?

I liked it a lot when I rode it 2 years ago, so with re-tracking and millennium flyers, this ride might become a top-class woodie (again).

I've never heard of them being too noisy. Unless that was sarcasm. And they might be removed because they were an Anheiser Busch thing.

And yeah DC, Alpie is too damn loud. Especially this year.

I've never ridden Alpengeist... Is it as good as Montu? I haven't heard much about it.
Boulder Dash was the only good roller coaster.

I haven't ridden Montu, but Alpie is all about speed and an "open feeling" I guess.

Yeah, I was just wondering because Montu is my favorite invert, followed by Great Bear and Talon.

Alpie in my opinion doesn't come close to matching the intensity of Montu.

Oh thank god, I actually put a word in to the board at Busch-

Maybe I helped! [:p]

They just finished the Tiger re-track, and I was finally able to ride that again (owns Lion...just, owns Lion).

Now they've got the Mil's being put in. The layout is just fast, furious, and airtime filled, and these'll just enhance it even more

-YES!

I can't wait until later this year, or next year!
"Don't be a disability"... yep, still keeping that. :P

No, I really thought I had read somewhere that they have noise constraints because of the eagles.

Alpengiest is incredible and imo is way better than montu because of its speed, theming, beauty, its "-.5g" roll, and its AMAZING cobra roll.

Ah. I'm not quite sure, but it could be very possible.

Speed means nothing; pacing means everything. Batwing > Cobra Roll because of fact that the batwing is taken more aggressively than the cobra roll.

Totally agree. It's so underated. Batwing is so fxcking powerful. Gwazi was fantastic with PTC's, rough but i like rough. Cant see these improving anything. That coasters biggest appeal was the fact it was so out of control and ridiculous through the corners. MEH.

Alpengiest is my 2nd least favorite B&M Invert (Above only Great Bear, which is basically Alpengiest Jr). The first half is very blah and forceless, and the 2nd isn't much better. Very little to it besides the inversions.
