my cat is drooling much more than usual, generally has a little bit of tongue sticking out of his mouth and is either refusing or unable to eat, he won't drink water but have managed to get him to drink some milk, we are worried, any ideas?[dunno]

Buy a baby bib and put it on him. That'll take care of the drool ending up everywhere.

^ Duh .... most logical answer on the planet. Thank you pauly. If you had the same symptoms you would go to the doctor too, wouldn't you?

Also, I think you should be banned now for actually being stupid.

Google is STILL your friend.

Searched: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ca ... on%27t+eat

The most common causes of excessive drooling in cats include:

Tooth Pain

Inflamed Gums/Periodontal Disease

Ulcers on the Inside of the Mouth or Throat

A Foreign Object Lodged in the Mouth or Throat

Rodent Ulcer

Eating a Bitter or Noxious Substance

Reaction To Oral Medications

Reaction to Flea Sprays

Nausea

Stress or Nerves

Disease

Aggression or Fear

Motion Sickness

Happiness

Tooth Pain

Probably the most common reason a cat will begin to drool excessively is due to pain associated with a damaged or problem tooth. Inspect the teeth, looking for a loose, broken or cracked tooth, especially a canine or molar.

Trade the cat to the Vietnamese restaurant owner for a 6 pack.

Yeah dude, there has to be some time somewhere where you can get him to a vet. If you're dad can't take you, get on the bus or something. Go with a friend's parents or something if it gets really serious..I'm sure pretty much nobody here would know that kinda stuff.

Yea down here in nm it hits 90+ and we see our cats sprauled out in front of one of the 5-6 fans we have set out with there mouths drooling or panting things like that. So if it is hot up there try setting out a few fans, make sure he has short hair, and always have water set out. If its not hot go to a vet.

as if there is ever a good time for this sort of thing...

this sounds a lot like a kidney infection or maybe even an infected tooth. best to get him to the vet right away.

stop giving him cow's milk too. older cats especially have problems digesting it.

how long has he not been eating?
have you tried different kinds of food? our cats don't eat anything with fish, so it could just be that he's picky and won't eat what you're feeding him.
what kind of climate do you live in?
is he drinking water?
is he having any digestive problems? if an animal is runny, that's usually a sign of either something going through its system or sickness.

sorry for not posting, but he had an infected tooth, we took him to the vets and they took a look at him, found he had a heart tremor and they said there was a risk of something which my dad won't tell me when they put him under the anesthetic, but they did the operation, he's fine and still awesome as ever! thanks for all the help guys, ill be happy to help if you have problems with your *****s [:P]
