CP is due for a new coaster in 2005. Historically, they have build one new major thrill ride every two years. The exception to this rule occoured in 2002-2003, when SFMM threatened their position as the park with the most roller coasters. I personally think a Gravity Group woodie, down the beach, would be the perfect addition to Cedar Point. However, there have been rumors for several years now that CP was going to build a launched floorless coaster, and many have also said that they will build a 500 ft coaster next. I vote for the out and back woodie, though. One of the only things CP doesn't have right now is a good wood coaster. (Blue Streak is too short, and Mean Streak is just pathetic.)

I agree cjd, a GG woodie along the beach would be cool for CP.

Well, if they took care of it, a GG woodie would be better than everything else in the park combined. But knowing how CP takes care of wood, it would become rough and they'd probably put trims to reduce the airtime. Probably because real airtime is too intense for the people who go to CP.

I agree that a new woodie would be a great addition to CP, and it would really be neat to have one go over the beach. but that might have negative effects on the natural beach formations and everything. Plus, with the lake and the tides and waves, they'd have to take certain measures to prevent erosions or storm damage. I imagine the lake gets some pretty bad winter storms. I live nearby Erie, PA, and they will have very large storms over winter causing alot of damage from waves.

As long as they take the proper measures, though, I think it would be a neat idea.

I dont think that it would be ne where close to the water, i juss think that they would build one at the edge of the concrete paths and right on the beach so it dosent get affected by the water from the lake.

I dunno, I might not be picturing what youre saying properly, but even if it was on the beach, it could be in danger from high storm waves. I don't know the wave formations that you will get on that peninsula since i only go there once a year, but I know at Presque Isle Peninsula in Erie, PA, over winter and during large storms, the waves may completely pass over the entire beach. I'm not saying that will happen at CP, i'm just saying it might be a concern. I think it would be a really neat coaster though, I totally agree with you.

Of course, there are always the people who like the beach for what it is - a beach, and they might get made with a loud coaster in a spot thats generally considered relaxing.

yeah, i guess, but its an amusment park, and thats why its popular, its not the most popular park because of its beaches so i think if they added a NICE woodie i dont think that many people would be mad.

i think i'd rather look at a beach than a coaster... especially the cp beach. but still, cp does need a good woodie. i'd say that they put it on the campground instead of the beach [;)]

the word wqas that CP was going to buy the southern half of the penninsula, and build the coaster coming from about the Wicked Twister area down the far end of the parking lot, and along the shoreline of the penninsula's southern half. ACE has been begging CP to go on with this project for some time now, but it just hasn't happened yet. Still, there have been many people saying that CP was going to build the park out onto the southern tip of the penninsula. They have almost zero space left in the park, so I believe that this philosophy is highly possible. Look for more info. This project should begin in 4 or 5 years at the latest. I just hope that a GG woodie is in their future.

I hope it is, too, but really, CP is not going to let an intense coaster be in their park...if it has great air and lats, which it will if its built, since its GG, they will trim it so theres like +5gs on the tops of the hills, lol, just like B&Ms
