Reports have been made that Rye Playland is looking to install a new World Record breaking ride. Zamperla, who is one of the companies interested in buying Rye Playland, wants to put in the world's tallest pendulum ride and raise record 10 feet higher than the previous record holder. The tallest pendulum ride is currently 147 feet, so that would make this model around 157 feet tall. In addition, Zamperla wants to try to add new rides each year, starting with this big pendulum ride first, to continue growth of the park from the current 350,000 guests a year account to their predicted 700-800 thousand guests a year count. Keep in mind, this plan will only go into effect if Zamperla can win the bidding for the park against Central Amusement's, who want to add a few rides immediately, and then work on bringing old park visitors back so they can see what the park looks like now.

What are your thoughts on this?

Despite it being relatively close its not likely I'll get up there anytime soon so anything that'll keep the park open is a plus imo. It seems like a beautiful place thats rich in amusement history and it would be a shame to see it go to waste
What are these for?

Oh it is - but that's what makes it so great! There's nothing like facing the ground 147 feet in the air at 120 degrees beyond vertical!

What you can't see from that pic, is it is also on the side of a cliff. ALSO, it's the only pendulum I've been on that stops for a swing and then reverses rotation several times during the loooooooong cycle

Me and my friends did and experiment on it, and found out the seats rotate to the same point every time. So if you are in a seat that stalls (when the seats stop and change direction) facing downward, it'll face downward on the other full swings. We tried this in about 10 different seats and each one was a different experience!

Dang, didn't know Kennywood had the biggest one ever! Should have ridden it last month, I always thought Max-Air was one of the tallest, so I didn't bother riding it, dumb mistake :P

It's in a 3-way tie I for tallest I believe, it's not the tallest. But it's definitely the best in theming and experience!

I didn't realize this ride was as terrifying as it apparently is, it's so commonplace to me

It seems so sketchy that all that is holding you up is a rod.

Don't forget the restraint, complete with two tiny handlebars to hold to while riding!

Not so bad, pretty sure Max-Air has handlebars, could be wrong, but I can't ever hold them, too constraining :P
