Dive Loop or Immelman

[:D] there is always controversy over which inversion is best as both elements are the same but just taken from a different direction and are very similar .
Which do you prefer, for me its the immelman i dont know why i just like the up and over feeling it feels great, although the dive-loop is a fantastic element.

the immelman, espec on inverteds has great posG's and a rough twist, dive loop are taken too smooth IMO

I prefer immelmans.

I'd have to say dive loop because it's so smooth, and I also think B&M should start adding dive loops to their inverts instead of just immelmans.

what's the difference btween a sidewinder and an immelman except for the name and company?

theres a big difference sidwinders come out at a 90 heading when the immenalin comes back almost the same heading as it went in duhhhhh

I belive a sidewinder is half loop connected to a half cork, which allows the exit to be higher than the entrance. An immelman has a demented second half, which is sorta like a cork-half loop combo. The exit is usually the same elevation as the entrance.

A sidewinder also usually rotates 90 degrees, while an immelman is much less, usually around 20-40 degrees.

Well it felt like an immelman

I think I've only ridden a dive loop (on Mantis. I've only been to CP) so I'm not sure which one I'd like better, but based on NL, immelmans seem to be fun too. It really depends on how large it is and the speed, g forces, etc.

Immelman can exit any way it wishes.

The name I believe comes from a German pilot who created the areobatic manuever. However, in planes an Immelman is a half loop and when you reach level at the top, you just rotate right side up - you dont come back down.

Of course, since a coaster needs its momentum, it comes back down. But ANY element that is just a half loop followed by a rolling out (whether its by a pure corkscrew or a roll) is and can be called an immelman.


For the sake of being consistant, screw what the companies call their elements. They do it so their element seems different from another when in reality, its all the same. Maybe executed differently, but its the same thing.

so which one do you like better?

The Immelman manuever was invented by a German pilot. It's a good tecnique to use in fighter games for computer. Having only been on an Immelman (Sadly it's the one on SLC's) I would have to say I like that one. But, I will in the future be making a point to ride more B&M's.
